NHC officials have in-depth exchanges with representatives from domestic, foreign pharmaceutical enterprises
The roundtable session of the 2026 annual meeting of China Development Forum, under the theme "Planning High-Quality National Health Development for the 15th Five-Year Plan Period and Accelerating the Building of a Healthy China", was held in Beijing on March 22.
Lei Haichao, minister of the National Health Commission (NHC), attended the meeting and gave a presentation on the current situation and related policies, which the enterprises are concerned with.
Officials from the NHC, National Healthcare Security Administration, National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, National Disease Control and Prevention Administration, National Medical Products Administration and the Beijing municipal government spoke at the event.
The meeting brought together executives from leading domestic and international pharmaceutical companies, representatives from top-tier Chinese hospitals and experts from high-level think tanks.
During the session, representatives from eight enterprises raised questions and concerns, to which officials from relevant departments provided responses.
It was noted at the meeting that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has set the strategic goal of building a Healthy China by 2035, emphasizing the implementation of a health-first development strategy. With the massive health demands of China’s 1.4 billion people and the continuous optimization of the business environment, significant opportunities are presented for both domestic and international enterprises.
It was emphasized at the meeting that the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–30) marks a critical phase for achieving decisive progress in building a Healthy China. All parties were urged to make efforts to deepen cooperation, drive reform and innovation and pursue shared development in areas such as improving the public health system, developing a high-quality and efficient medical system, promoting healthy and civilized lifestyles and ensuring the effective implementation of 10 practical initiatives for public welfare.
It was highlighted that efforts should also be made to deepen reforms in the medical and healthcare system, foster scientific and technological innovation and advance high-level opening-up, so as to jointly contribute to building a global community of health for all.
