NHC calls for publicity activities for International Nurses Day
The National Health Commission (NHC) called for the health authorities and traditional Chinese medicine administration at provincial level to organize publicity campaigns ahead the International Nurses Day.
The International Nurses Day falls on May 12. With the theme in China of "Developing nurses services and realizing universal health", the activities will focus on nurses' physical and mental health and to publicize their professional spirits of humanity, philanthropism and dedication.
NHC calls for more attention and care for nurses. The health authorities and TCM administration are asked to take measures to care for the nurses, such as visiting nurses especially those working at grassroots hospitals and in impoverished areas to learn about their difficulties, improving their working environment and guaranteeing their occupational security.
The health authorities and administrations are required to launch campaigns to publicize nursing service progress, good practices and nurses professional spirits so the public will deeply understand and respect those in the nursing sector, said the NHC.
China will continue to develop nursing services, said China's top health authority, adding that the health authorities should fully understand the big role of nursing in promoting a healthy China and coping with ageing and appreciate the major progress made and practices developed since the founding of the People's Republic of China. They should take effective measure to strengthen China's nursing teams and fulfill the theme of this year's International Nurses Day.
